Blog Post Ch.10-Multi Genre Email

Dear ENC 2135 student,

Assembling a multi-genre project may appear like a daunting task that may sometimes leave you with more questions than answers. However, in this email I will outline the key points of creating this kind of project in order to make this task seem less unapproachable.

First, you may be wondering to yourself, “What exactly even is a multi-genre project?”. In short, it is three or more different genres brought together for a purpose around a certain topic that they share. This allows you to create a unique conversation around the topic of your interest. Genres can range from anything including a paper, a poster, an interview, etc. Important points to consider when beginning your project are what is your purpose and how can you make these genres convey that to your audience.

Once you have determined that, it is time to start assembling your project. You will want your project to begin with a one to two page introduction giving a sort of summary of what your project will cover. For the genre pieces you will be using, it is important to consider the order you will be presenting them in, how it will be coherent with your purpose, and how you will elaborate on them in order to achieve that. Your project should also have a catchy title to encompass all of these ideas.

Multi-genre projects have a lot of flexibility for creativity and are whatever the author decides to make of them so each one will be unique. Don’t be afraid to have some fun with it!
